Green Iowa AmeriCorps Hosting Rain Barrel Workshop

April showers are coming! Consider signing up for this rain barrel workshop on Tuesday, March 30th, from noon to 2 pm at William Penn University’s George Daily Pavilion. Hosted by Green Iowa AmeriCorps – Mahaska Partnership, only 10 spots are available, so register soon before it fills up by completing the form at https://www.wmpenn.edu/rain-barrel-workshop.

You will learn how to construct an operational, earth-friendly rain barrel. What is a rain barrel? This “cistern” collects and stores rainwater, which can then be reused for watering gardens and flower beds. Don’t have a lot of experience building things? Instructors will guide you through the construction process, and all needed materials are provided within the workshop fee.

Participants pay only $50 per barrel, with an additional $5 option to paint the barrel, and/or $10 to receive help with installation at home. More than one barrel is available per person. A $40 Do-It-Yourself option is available, where materials and the barrel are provided so you can tackle it yourself. Ready-to-Install barrels for the less adventurous are $60 per barrel, with an additional cost of $10 to have it painted, and $10 to help install. Those interested in these options can contact AmeriCorps throughout the summer. To sign up for either of these options, or if you have questions, email americorps@wmpenn.edu.
