Glenys Sarver, 81, of University Park, died Thursday, April 11, 2024, at the MHP
Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. She was born March 8, 1943, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the
daughter of Robert and Helen Hoit Swim.
Glenys graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1961. Following graduation she completed beauty school in Ottumwa.
On March 24, 1963, she was united in marriage to Edwin Sarver at the Gospel Tabernacle in Oskaloosa. To this union two boys were born, Todd and Brian.
Glenys owned and operated Glenys Beauty Salon for many years. In 1987, she went to work at Iowa Dress Club in Oskaloosa. In addition to working at the dry cleaners she cleaned for the Boender family.
Glenys’ life was centered around being a servant of the Lord. She was a faithful member of the Calvary Bible Church in Oskaloosa. She served in several capacities at the church and was always willing to lend a hand to projects and special events happening at the church. She dedicated her life to sharing the Gospel of Jesus first to her family and then to her community.
She enjoyed gardening, working in the yard, and spending time with her family, especially baking cookies with her grandchildren.
Her family includes her two sons, Todd (& Julie) Sarver and Brian Sarver all of Oskaloosa; seven grandchildren: Cari (& Shawn) Fopma, Amy (& Logan) Hart, Tyce (& Allie) Sarver, Dawson Sarver, Reece Sarver, Chloe Sarver, and Gentrie Sarver; six great grandchildren: Aubree and Kinley Fopma, Addison Sarver, Leah Hart, Layla and Baylor Sarver; three brothers: Don (& Marilyn) Swim of Oskaloosa, Darrell (& Phyllis) Swim of Oskaloosa, and Doug (& Kathy) Swim of Oskaloosa; a sister, Ginger (& Doug) Boender of rural New Sharon; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ed on February 18, 2024, her parents and grandparents; and a brother Danny Swim.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 15, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. in the Calvary Bible Church in Oskaloosa with Reverend Dr. Douglas Smiley officiating.
Burial will be in the Bluff Creek Cemetery southwest of Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Sunday, April 14, 2024, after 10:30 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel on Sunday from 1-3 p.m. to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to MHP Hospice Serenity House or Calvary Bible Church in Oskaloosa.
