Gamble, Lohman, Rosario All Named Scholar-Athletes

Oskaloosa–Three members of the William Penn softball team were honored for their excellence in the classroom as they were named 2012 Daktronics-NAIA Softball Scholar-Athletes.

Cassie Lohman (Jr., Burbank, Calif., Providence HS), who majors in criminology, led the way with a 3.85 Grade Point Average.

Christine Gamble (Sr., Pahrump, Nev., Pahrump Valley HS), with a 3.74 GPA in bio-chemistry, and Athena Rosario (Sr., Bremerton, Wash., Olympic CC), with a 3.55 GPA in physical education, were also honored. Gamble ends her career as a three-time Scholar-Athlete, while her teammates both received their first accolades.

The NAIA announced that 308 softball players were awarded the laurel.

To be eligible, athletes must be of at least junior academic standing, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, and have attended the nominating institution for at least one full academic year.
