Ella Maude Van Der Linden, age 104, of Oskaloosa, passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at the Crystal Heights Care Center in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She was born on January 19, 1917 the daughter of Vernon and Bessie M. (Allanbaugh) Ward.

Ella attended the New Sharon High School and graduated with the Class of 1935.

In June of 1950, she was united in marriage to Ivan Ray Van Der Linden in Sheldon, Missouri. To this union a son was born, Jim. Ivan Ray passed away on March 13, 1970.

Ella was a cook for most of her working life. She worked at several places including school systems, William Penn University and lastly she worked at the Senior Center until retiring in her late 80’s.

Ella enjoyed tending to her vegetable garden. She enjoyed the fresh produce she harvested and always delighted in sharing the extra with her family and friends. She loved being outdoors on her front porch enjoying the day with a glass of iced tea.

Her family includes her son, Jim Van Der Linden of Oskaloosa, Iowa; two grandchildren, B.J. (& Andrea) Van Der Linden of Ames, Iowa and Amy (& Bryan) Abbott of Stuart, Iowa; and 7 great grandchildren: Riley Abbott, Tyler Abbott, Dylan Abbott, Courtney Abbott, Lily Van Der Linden, Luke Van Der Linden and Owen Van Der Linden.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Ray Van Der Linden; and her parents.

A private family graveside service will take place at a later date in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
