E.B.H.S. Jazz Band Places 1st at Indian Hills

Lunsford Wins Top Honors for 4th Year in a row!!

On Saturday, February 25th, the Eddyville / Blakesburg Jazz Band placed 1st in class 2A at the Indian Hills Jazz Festival in Ottumwa. Several members of the band earned Outstanding Soloist Awards for their solo performances: Brooke Lunsford; alto sax, Tanner Powers; vibes, Anna Haselhuhn; trumpet, Jessica Jones; flute, Jered Abernathy; guitar, Jackson Voyles; Bass, and Nate McGinnis; drums. The band was also awarded the Outstanding Sax Section and Brass Section Awards.

Brooke Lunsford was chosen as the Outstanding Soloist of the Day for the 4th year in a row in class 2A competition. The bands next competition will be this Saturday at the District Jazz Contest at Iowa City West High School. Bands that place 1st or 2nd at the district contest will qualify to compete at the Iowa Jazz Championships in April. The band will perform in concert with the junior high jazz band on Thursday March 15th. The band will also be appearing at the Night of Jazz Concert on Friday March 30th at the Daily Auditorium with several other area jazz bands.
