Dutch women land on tennis academic list

PELLA—For the fifth straight year, the Central College women’s tennis squad was given the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team Award.

Meanwhile, four Central players were named to the ITA Scholar-Athlete Team.

The Dutch posted a 3.30 combined team grade point average and a 13-11 dual meet record, placing fourth in the American Rivers Conference. To receive the ITA distinction, teams must carry a combined GPA of 3.20 or higher. It’s the sixth time the Dutch have received the award since 2005.

Three recent graduates Cassidy Bos (Geneseo, Ill.), Kirsten Jordan (Clear Lake) and Jenna Stewart (Burlington, Notre Dame HS) were honored as well as rising senior Sami Thompson (Knoxville). Stewart and Thompson are both three-time honorees while Bos and Jordan are first-time recipients.

ITA Scholar-Athletes must be a varsity letterwinner, post a 3.50 or higher GPA for the year and have been enrolled at least two semesters.
