Doris Marie Stephenson, 84, of What Cheer, died Thursday, September 10, 2015 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Doris was born November 26, 1930 in Gibson, Iowa, the daughter of John and Opal Dean McKay.

Doris was a 1948 graduate of the Gibson High School. She married David L. Stephenson in 1949. To this union one daughter was born. The couple later divorced in 1972.

Over the years Doris had several jobs, including working as an insurance agent for Gerald Fowler and Conklin Insurance. She also worked nights as a nurses aid in Oskaloosa for twenty years before retiring.

Doris was a member of the United Methodist Church in What Cheer, Mary Circle and the Gibson Girls. She enjoyed her cats and baking cookies for all the neighborhood children.

She is survived by her daughter Leora (& Mitch) Kaiser of Racine, WI; three sisters: Julie Sebert of Newton, Marna (& Jon) Dahlstrom of Fairfax, and Nancy (& Lester) Clark of Florissant, MO; a brother Ernie (& Pat) McKay of Ogden, UT; a grandson, Michael Kaiser of Racine, WI; and a sister-in-law, Sharon McKay of Cedar Rapids.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Melvie and Clifford McKay; a brother-in-law, Joe Sebert; and a sister-in-law, Jan McKay.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 am on Monday, September 14, 2015 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home.
Visitation begins at noon on Sunday, with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
Burial will be held privately at the Sixteen Cemetery near Thornburg.
