Doris Van Helten, age 79, found peace on August 27th, 2022. Doris was born on August 3rd, 1943, the daughter of Henry and Mae Ross.
Doris attended New Sharon High School.
She worked at Pella Rolscreen (now Pella Corporation), and Pizza Hut in Oskaloosa.
Doris was married to Marion “Buck” Van Helten on June 16th, 1971.
She enjoyed horse-riding, westerns, going to the casino, and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sister Darlene (& Gene) Plate of Arizona; her children: Michael (& Kate) Taylor of New Sharon, Angela (& Randy) Sohm of Papillion NE, and Patricia (& Rick) Van Helten of Crystal Lake IL; her grandchildren: Hannah, Kyle, and Mattie Sohm, of NE, Hope, Katelyn, Drayton, Jaycob, and Mya; her five great-grandchildren; and dear friend, Janet.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Buck; her parents, Henry and Mae; brothers, William and Robert; her sister and best friend, Betty; and grandson, Cody.
As was Doris’ wish her body has been cremated.
A private family graveside service will be held in the Friends Cemetery at New Sharon. Bates Funeral Home Oskaloosa is handling arrangements.
