Donavon “Don” McCloud

Memorial Service: 11 a.m., Thursday morning, March 01, 2012 at Forest Cemetery, please use the North Nineth Street entrance. A luncheon will follow the service at the Central Reformed Church located at Second Ave. East and South Seventh Street.
Interment: Forest Cemetery.
Donavon passed away Sunday evening at Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa.
Donavon Ardell McCloud, was born May 25, 1940 in Obert, Nebraska to William and Leona Mapson McCloud. The family moved to Newcastle, Nebraska when Donavon was a young child. He attended country school near Newcastle and later served four years with the U.S. Army. Following his discharge he began working in road construction. Donavon also worked in the meat packing industry, as a water softener salesman and eventually with McCloud Lawn Service. Donavon married Dixie L. Walker on December 11, 1970. Donavon enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. He has lived in Oskaloosa for the last 30 years.
His family includes his wife, Dixie McCloud; four sons and daughters-in-law: Donavon, Jr. and Carrie McCloud of Oskaloosa, Matt McCloud of Oskaloosa, Brad and Dawn McCloud of Boone, IA, and Kevin and Jean McCloud of Charles City, IA; three daughters and sons-in-law: Darla & Rick Miller of Marshalltown, IA, Lisa and Charles Lucas of Oskaloosa, and Linda Taylor of Papillion, NE; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and sisters, Josie Schumucker of Hereford, TX, Leona and Ray Stewart of Warrensburg, MO and Peggy Stover of Upland, CA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions are made in his name and sent to Donavon McCloud, Jr. at 1108 North 4th ST. Oskaloosa, IA 52577.
