Cunningham, Lundsgaard Sweep League Golfer of the Week Awards
Oskaloosa–Courtney Cunningham (Sr., Muskogee, Okla., Computer Science) and Frederik Lundsgaard (Jr., Jebjerg, Denmark, History/Government) turned tournament titles into league recognition as they were both named Heart of America Athletic Conference Golfers of the Week Monday.
Cunningham notched her second weekly laurel of her career–both this year (seventh for the program this year), while Lundsgaard’s honor is his second of the season (fifth in his career) and fourth for the men this campaign.
Cunningham tied for first out of 61 players at the Iowa Central CC Invitational, posting a 27-hole score of 111 (74-37). She guided William Penn to the team win in the 10-program event and helped the squad break the program’s nine and 27-hole records.
Earlier in the week, Cunningham guided the Statesmen at the TPC Deere Run Invitational. She tied for fifth at 154 (78-76) and WPU was also fifth in the deep field. The senior was named to the all-tournament team for both events.
For the year, the senior owns a 78.5 stroke average in 14.5 rounds, including a low round of 74. She has posted nine rounds in the 70s and has placed in the top 10 six times (one title).
Lundsgaard tied for first in the 51-player field at the Kansas Wesleyan Invitational with a score of one-over 141 (68-73). His efforts highlighted a squad win for WPU as well.
The junior is currently averaging 72.7 strokes per round (15.5 rounds). He has recorded six top-10 finishes, including three event victories. All but one of his rounds have been in the 60s or 70s (low of 65).
