Casey’s General Stores Night At The Southern Iowa Speedway
Oskaloosa, Iowa- The checkered flag flew for Kris Walker, Cayden Carter, Shane Weller and Colt Mather.
The rain held off for a full nights racing at the Southern Iowa Speedway on June 1st, 2011.
First up for the evening was the Musco USRA Modifides. Winner Colt Mather of Webster started the Main from the eighth position, and was showing his win from two weeks ago was no fluke. Pole sitter for the A Main was Scott Dickey of Packwood who finished second. New Sharon’s Zack VanderBeek and defending track champion finished 3rd.
Kris Walker of Oskaloosa took the top spot in the USRA Hobby Stocks after starting in the 3rd position, Nick Ulin of Agency scored a second, and Steve Allen of Oskaloosa rounded out the top 3.
Agency’s Shane Weller brought home the trophy in the USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars. Weller also took the victory home after starting the A Main from the 8th position. Bringing home second place was Tom Killen of Des Moines and Todd Staley, of Webster City, came in 3rd.
In the final race of the night, the Carter’s Manufacturing USRA B-Mod feature, we saw Oskaloosa’s Cayden Carter bring home the checkered flag, with team member Carter VanDenBerg, also of Oskaloosa, finishing 2nd; for a team first and second place showing on the evening. Knoxville’s Bill Gibson was 3rd in the final feature of the night.
Next week, June 8th, should have all four divisions once again on the track for the third round of USRA Weekly Racing at the Southern Iowa Speedway. As usual, the pits will open at 5 p.m. and the grandstands at 5:30. Hot laps start at 7:15 and the racing starts at 7:30.
