Boswell Announces $950K for Iowa Public Health Programs
Des Moines, Ia. – Today, Congressman Leonard Boswell announced that the Department of Human and Health Services has awarded $950,000 in public health grants to the Iowa State Department of Health and the University of Iowa to strengthen health care infrastructure and training programs.
“The health care industry has experienced record hiring and growth as we have worked on expanding the pool of insured Americans and streamlining inefficiencies in the system,” Boswell said. “The public health field is evolving rapidly and these grants will go a long way in making sure Iowa is on the cutting edge of high-quality health care for all.”
Iowa State Department of Public Health received $350,000 for Strengthening Public Health Infrastructure for Improved Health Outcomes and the University of Iowa received $600,000 for its Public Health Training Center. The grants are funded by the Recovery Act of 2009.
