Ashley Nichole Neff, 33, of Des Moines, died Monday, February 25, 2019, at her home in Des Moines. She was born July 4, 1985, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Mark and Susan Ann Stansberry Neff.
Ashley graduated from Eddyville High School with the class of 2003. Ashley continued her education at Indian Hills earning her nursing degree and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from William Penn University.
After earning her degrees, Ashley went to work in the health care field. While attending William Penn she worked at Imagine the Possibilities in Oskaloosa. Her experience there led her to pursue a career in home health care. Most recently she was working for Iowa Health Care in Clive. She cared for both adults and children with special needs in their home.
In her youth, Ashley was involved with 4-H, doing multiple projects and showing sheep at both the county and state fair. She was a free spirit that enjoyed learning and spending time with her family and friends.
Her family includes her parents, Mark and Missy Neff of Fremont; a brother, Zac Neff of Fremont; grandparents, Dorothy and Richard Slagle of Ottumwa and John and Vicky Wyngarden of rural Fremont; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Ashley was preceded in death by her mother, Susan Neff; an infant brother, Christopher Joseph Neff; and her grandparents, Loren and Marilyn Neff.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 2, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. in the Fremont Funeral Chapel in Fremont with Pastor Mike Sinnett officiating.
As was Ashley’s wish her body will be cremated following the funeral. The Fremont Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Friday after 12 noon in the Fremont Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 5-8 to greet friends and relatives.
In lieu of flowers please bring a packet of wildflower seeds to visitation, they will be used for a future tribute to Ashley, or donate to your local animal shelter.
