William Penn Down Two Spots to #20
Oskaloosa–The Statesmen women’s golf team took a small hit to its national ranking as the NAIA released its third top-25 poll Friday.
William Penn fell a pair of positions to #20 in the nation with 181 points. It is still, however, the only program from the Heart of America Athletic Conference as well as the state of Iowa in the entire poll.
No movement occurred in the top nine as Keiser (Fla.) continues to be first with 466 points and 15 first-place votes. SCAD Savannah (Ga.) is second, while William Woods (Mo.) (final two first-place nods), Dalton State (Ga.), and Oklahoma City round out the top five.
WPU will travel to Silvis, Ill. Monday and Tuesday to host the TPC Deere Run Invitational. Play will be contested at TPC Deere Run Golf Course. #6 Cumberlands (Ky.) and #8 Bellevue (Neb.) as well as Lawrence Tech (Mich.) and Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), both of which are receiving votes, will be in the tournament field.
