William Penn Graduates Class of 2011

William Penn University Held It's 2011 Commencement Ceremony on May 7th

William Penn University held commencement exercises on Saturday, May 7, at 2:00 p.m. in the Penn Activity Center. Doors opened at 12:30 p.m. The ceremony honored just over 300 students.

Commencement opening was given by Dr. James B. Drost, with the welcome being given by Dr. Ann Fields, President of William Penn.

General Tom Franks served as this year’s commencement speaker. General Franks agreed to serve on the William Penn University Board of Trustees in September of 2010. Born in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, General Franks joined the United States Army in 1967. As a distinguished graduate of the Artillery Officer Candidate School, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant and sent to Vietnam. His service in Vietnam earned him six awards for valor and three Purple Hearts.

Presentation of Graduates was by Dr. Noel Stahle, and the Honors and Conferring Degrees was by Dr. Ann Fields and Dr. Noel Stahle.

President’s Leadership Award – CWA Mark Worrall said, “Today we celebrate the gift of a wonderful education. Regardless of your present situation, the education you have received has helped to prepare you, better than you may realize, for the future. From this day forward you and I will have accomplished something that can never be taken away; we have graduated from William Penn University.”

During this past year Osky News has gotten to know some of these graduates from William Penn, and we would like to take this opportunity to say congratulations to: Amanda Nicole Kendall, Christa Jo Subbert, Austin Leon Bayliss, Rachel Marie Butler, Dawn Stephens Collins.
