William MacDonald, Sr, 57, of Goldfield, Iowa, and formerly of Oskaloosa died Saturday, April 16, 2022, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. He was born May 30, 1964, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Harold and Shirley Sprouse MacDonald.

Bill attended Iowa School for the Deaf in Council Bluffs.

On February 21, 1987, he was united in marriage to Delores DeVoll in Bussey, Iowa. To this union two children were born, William, Jr. and Amanda. Bill and Delores later divorced.

Bill was a talented mechanic and auto body technician. He worked in various shops including Brand FX.

Bill was a talented artist and especially enjoyed drawing. He was a devoted family man, he was always very close to his mom, and was a devoted father and grandfather. He made it a point to try to brighten the day of those around him with a word of encouragement or a joke to prompt a smile.

His family includes his two children, William “Billy” (& Jayme) MacDonald, Jr. and Amanda (& Kevin Mogle) MacDonald all of Oskaloosa; five grandchildren: Isabella, Hadley, and Everly MacDonald and Brently and Ada Mogle; his mother, Shirley MacDonald of Des Moines; and his sister, Lori MacDonald of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his father; a brother in infancy, John MacDonald; and a half brother, Michael MacDonald.

As was Bill’s wish his body has been cremated and no services are planned at this time. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
