VIP Ride Looking for Riders
A VIP Ride has been scheduled as part of Bike to Work Week slated for May 16-20. Employees from local businesses will be participating by riding their bicycles to work, and the week will culminate with the VIP Ride on Friday, May 20. Mayor David Krutzfeldt and Police Chief “Jake” McGee are participating along with other VIPs from the community.
The VIP Ride is open for anyone who has a bike and wants to ride. It will start at 11:30 a.m. with riders taking off from Bobzilla Bicycle Werks on Pella Avenue. Riders will travel on the recreation trail from Bobzilla’s to Edmundson Park. Lunch will be waiting for those who pre-register their participation, and though the ride itself has no participation or entry fee, the lunch cost will be $5 (collected at the lunch site).
Hy-Vee will be preparing grill lunches. Registration is necessary to make sure there are enough lunches prepared. To register, send an email to ask@bobzillabikes.com or go to the Team Mahaska web site (www.teammahaska.org), where information is posted on the home page or go directly to contacts and use the pull-down menu for VIP Ride Registration.
Lunch registrations will be taken until noon May 19. Local radio stations will carry announcements should heavy rain or lightening cancel the event. No rain date is scheduled.
