Tonight’s Hospice Memorial Service moved indoors

Mahaska Health Partnership

Due to inclement weather, today’s Community Memorial Service location has been moved to the lobby of MHP Specialty Services, across the parking lot from the MHP Hospice Serenity House (Entrance #4).

The event will take place Wednesday, May 25 at 7 p.m. It is being sponsored by Mahaska Health Partnership Hospice Services, Mahaska Hospice Auxiliary and Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel. They invite anyone in the community who has lost someone near and dear to them to attend the service.

According to Shawn Langkamp, one of the organizers of the event, MHP Hospice Services, Mahaska Hospice Auxiliary and Garland-Van-Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel staff and volunteers invite anyone in the community who has lost someone near and dear to them to join us in the service. “It will be a time of remembering, honoring and encouraging,” Langkamp explained.

The service will include a message of inspiration and hope by Pastor Dennis Morey, music, refreshments and a tree planting and dedication on the Serenity House grounds. Langkamp said Blue Spruce seedlings will also be given to those in attendance.

“The staff and volunteers recognize the meaningfulness and healing power that sharing of memories can play in the grieving process,” Langkamp said. “Our purpose in holding the Community Memorial Service is to give participants a time to focus on the life and memory of their loved one and to take that memory and turn it into inspiration and hope for tomorrow.”

For more information on the Community Memorial Service, please call MHP Marketing and Development Director Cathy Stahl at 672-3369 or Shawn Langkamp at 672-2181.
