Three Central softball players named all-Iowa Conference

PELLA — A trio of Central College softball players were announced as members of the All-Iowa Conference squad Monday morning.

Third baseman Lauren Bagby (freshman, Norwalk), pitcher Karly Olson (junior, Winterset), and left fielder Tabitha Taylor (sophomore, Grimes, Iowa, Dallas Center-Grimes HS) were all chosen as first-team selections.

Bagby hit .429 in league action this year, including a pair of doubles while driving in six runs. The freshman led Central with a .486 on-base percentage and nine runs scored in conference games.

Olson was the pitcher of decision in 13 of Central’s 14 league games, finishing with a 7-6 record and a 2.23 ERA. Opponents had a .247 batting average against her as she struck out 61 batters in 66.0 innings.

Taylor led the team in batting average (.429) and RBI’s (10) during league action. With five doubles and two home runs, Taylor also led the team in slugging percentage (.690) in conference play.

Central finished the regular season in fourth place with an 8-6 record.
