This Day in Weather History November 20
1975: Low pressure moved from Kansas over Iowa and into Wisconsin producing heavy snow and blizzard conditions in far northwestern Iowa from the afternoon of November 19th into the morning of the 20th. Snowfall accumulations ranged up to 8.0 inches at Hawarden and Rock Rapids, which along with winds exceeding 50 mph paralyzed the region with 6 to 8 foot snow drifts. Roads were blocked and there were numerous traffic accidents and school closures
