Oskaloosa–Statesmen golfers Seb Stobart (Harare, Zimbabwe, Business Management) and Evan Thomas (Oskaloosa, PE-Sports Administration) are looking for big senior campaigns after winning tournaments in Oskaloosa this summer.

Stobart was a two-time champion, taking the Oskaloosa City Championship title at Edmundson Golf Course on July 29 with a four-over 144 and the Oskaloosa Golf Course Club Men’s Championships on September 1 with a three-over 111.

“I just want to thank the courses at both Oskaloosa and Edmundson for letting us play in their tournaments and for allowing us to practice there as well,” Stobart said. “The courses were both in really good condition. It was just a little windy each time out, otherwise I think I would have scored even better.”

Thomas repeated as champion of the Oskaloosa Amateur title at Edmundson on June 3 with a two-over 107.

“I played really well that day,” Thomas said. “It was probably the best I had hit the ball all year. I was in control of my game. After winning the tournament last year, I had a lot of confidence in myself and my game. I came in just knowing I was going to win and fortunately I did.”

“I hope these wins will lead us into a great final season as we look to contend for the conference title,” Stobart said.
