Steve Job, 72, of Oskaloosa, died Saturday, November 16, 2019, at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines. He was born December 10, 1946, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Paul and Melba Moore Job.

Steve attended Notre Dame Regional High School. He also attended Southeast Missouri State University.

Following school, Steve joined the United States Air Force and served his country during the Vietnam War from 1966-1970 as a jet engine mechanic.

After returning home, Steve was united in marriage to Marilyn K. Hunhoff on September 5, 1970 in Yankton, South Dakota.

Steve worked at Proctor and Gamble as a technician in Missouri before moving to Sioux Falls. He and Mari later moved to Oskaloosa. Steve worked for ServiceMaster at Oskaloosa Schools as the Director of Buildings and Grounds. He later accepted a job at Central College in 2006 as a Maintenance Technician in HVAC. He retired from Central College due to health issues.

Steve was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oskaloosa, Knights of Columbus, Rollin’ Oldies Car Club, Iowa Street Rod Association and the National Street Rod Association. He had a love for street rods and enjoyed attending car shows on the weekends. He also enjoyed attending auctions to find antique gas station memorabilia to add to his growing collection. In his earlier years, Steve loved to go hunting and fishing with his family and friends.

His family include his wife of 49 years, Mari Job of Oskaloosa; a sister, Lisa (& Mike) Rouse of Jackson, Missouri; a brother-in-law, Frank Myers of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Larry Job; and a sister, Paula Myers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, November 20, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oskaloosa, with Fr. John Spiegel officiating.
Burial will be at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter at a later date. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 in the Bates Funeral Chapel beginning after 11 a.m. with the family present at the funeral chapel from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday evening to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to the Ecumenical Cupboard in Oskaloosa or Habitat for Humanity.
