Visitation: will begin at 11:00 a.m., Friday morning, August 12, 2011 at Garland-Van Arkel Langkamp Funeral Chapel. The family will be present at 10 a.m. Saturday morning and greet visitors until 10:45 a.m., at which time a procession will form to travel to the cemetery.
Graveside Service: 11:00 a.m., Saturday morning, August 13, 2011 at Forest Cemetery.
Interment: Forest Cemetery.

Stella passed away Wednesday evening at the Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines at the age of 82 years and 13 days.

Stella Eugenia Cook, daughter of Fred and Freida Irene Hewitt Kool, was born July 28, 1929 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Stella attended high school in Oskaloosa and as a young woman worked at the Checkerboard Café. She married Clark G. Cook November 27, 1948 in Oskaloosa, where they made their home. Stella worked at the Continental Overall Factory for 8 years early in their marriage. In 1960, Stella and Clark moved to Ames and later to Belle Plaine, IA. They have resided in West Des Moines for the last 25 years. Stella enjoyed her role as a homemaker, fun for her was fixing jigsaw puzzles, watching Hawkeye football and basketball and the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball.

Stella’s family includes her husband of 62 years, Clark Cook of West Des Moines; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Vicki Cook of Branson, MO; two granddaughters: Jody (Mike) Campidilli of Story City, IA and Samantha Cook of Des Moines; a great granddaughter, Jamie Sweet of Ames; five brothers: Tony Kool of Oskaloosa, Sam (Alice) Kool of Eddyville, Clayton (JoAnn) Kool of Oskaloosa, Harry (Sandra) Kool of Oskaloosa, and Howard (Janet) Kool of McCook, NE; a sister: Kathy Rawson of Walker, IA; and many good friends.

Stella was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Andrew Kool and a sister, Zua Kool.

Memorials may be made to Bright Kavanagh Hospice in Des Moines.
