Statesmen of the Week: D’Artagnon Beaver and Mia Brady
Men’s cross country runner D’Artagnon Beaver (Jr., Rockford, Ill., Undecided) and women’s volleyball player Mia Brady (So., Pontiac, Ill., Exercise Science) have been named the Statesmen of the Week for the week of October 16-22, presented by Gardner-Collier Jewelry.
Beaver paced the Statesmen at the Flaming Tiger NAIA Classic last Saturday, placing 38th out of 288 runners with a career-best time of 25:32.2. Not only is the time his best ever, but it is also the sixth-best 8K time in school history and the best performance for WPU since 2016.
Brady posted three solid outings last week for William Penn. She opened with 19 assists, five digs, and an ace against Clarke last Tuesday, and then followed that up with 27 assists, five digs, and an ace versus Grand View last Friday.
The sophomore’s week concluded with her best performance as she recorded a double-double against #13 Columbia last Saturday, tallying 32 assists and 13 digs while also serving up another ace.
