Sexual Abuse Charges Filed Against Oskaloosa Resident

Oskaloosa, Iowa – From an Oskaloosa Police Department Press Release:

On Friday July 8th, 2011, the Oskaloosa Police Department was contacted by a member of the Iowa Department of Human Services, regarding the report of a possible child sexual abuse.

The Oskaloosa Police Department and the Iowa Department of Human Services conducted a joint investigation into this matter.

As a result of this investigation, police arrested 26-year-old Christopher Allen Atchison (of 515 9th Avenue East, Oskaloosa, Iowa) and charged him with two counts of 2nd Degree Sexual Abuse (a Class B Felony).

One of these charges stem from the alleged abuse of a 4-year-old male child, at Atchison’s residence, during the summer of 2010. The second charge stems from the alleged abuse of a 2 1/2-year-old female child on July 6th, 2011, at Atchison’s residence.

Following his arrest, Atchison was incarcerated in the Mahaska County Jail. He made his initial appearance in the Mahaska County Court on 7/9/11. Atchison’s bond was set at $50,000 and he remains in the Mahaska County Jail.

The Investigation into the incident is continuing and further charges against Atchison are pending.

A criminal charge is merely a criminal charge and not an indication of guilt. All suspect should be considered innocent until proven guilty.
