Senior Babe Ruth players give back
15 Senior Babe Ruth players, along with coaches Eric Stout and Matt Saville, met at the Lacey Recreation Complex Wednesday April 13th to spread mulch, clean dugouts, pick up debris and generally clean and prep the new fields as the opening day gets closer. Sacrificing a day of practice, the team prepared to spend one and a half to two and half hours to help clean up last details of the fields. Eric McGee, a Babe Ruth player for five years, stated “We like the new fields, they are alot nicer!” He continued when asked why he was helping today, ” I want to do my part because these guys built the fields for us so I figure we should help them out.” Matt Saville, also Babe Ruth Board Vice President, said that this was a good group of kids to have involved. “Alot of them knew Charlie and they appreciate everything that has been done.” Eric Stout plans to also bring the youth players out to help assemble bleachers when they arrive in the next week or so.
