Samantha Steinhart
Oskaloosa. Samantha M. “Sam” Steinhart, 21, of Oskaloosa and formerly of Sigourney, died Friday, February 25, 2011, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. She was born February 3, 1990 at Iowa City. Sam attended Sigourney schools before moving to Oskaloosa and she graduated from the Oskaloosa Senior High School with the class of 2008. She worked for Carrikers at the US Cellular branch office at the Penn Central Mall. She loved spending time and visiting with friends; animals, especially dogs; and tattoos.
Her family includes her parents: Barbara and Russ Parker of Oskaloosa; Barry Steinhart of Sigourney; Mark (& Molly) Bruns of Sigourney; a brother, Alex Steinhart, Oskaloosa; and sisters: Jessica Steinhart, Oskaloosa, and Erin and Melanie Steinhart, both of Oskaloosa; step sisters: Abby and Ally Parker, both Belmond; grandparents: Mary (& Fred) Monohon, University Park; George Bailey of Cape May Courthouse, New Jersey; Glen (& Donna) Steinhart of Sigourney; Judy Bruns of Sigourney; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a grandfather, Ralph Bruns; and her great grandparents.
Funeral services for Sam Steinhart will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with the Reverend Jim Eschenbrenner officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Oskaloosa. Visitation will begin on Monday after 12 noon, and the family will be at the funeral chapel on Monday from 5 – 7 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. A memorial has been established to Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter.
