Salvation Army Ring the Bells

Salvation Army Bell ringers welcome your support for a successful 2010

The holiday season has many sights and sounds that help to bring back many memories. One of those is the red kettle of the Salvation Army, and the familiar ringing of the bell.

The local chapter had their kick off meeting Saturday morning starting at 10:00 at the VFW building in Oskaloosa, but 94 year young Ester Kempenaar kicked off the ringing season at Hy-Vee this morning from 9:00 to 12:00 for the local group of volunteers.

The local Salvation Army is looking to raise approximately $26,000.00 this Christmas Season to help those in need for the coming year. Currently, they need to fill about 3/4 of their bell ringing schedule with more volunteers. If you would like to help with that, you can contact Jerry Morrison at 641.660.0173 and he would be happy to help find some time that would work for you to donate.

Donations may also be sent to P.O. Box 487, Oskaloosa, Iowa 52577

If you need assistance from the Salvation Army, you can call their local number of 641.295.0942, they will help you with the application process for the assistance then.
