Oskaloosa. Rita Garman, 76, of Oskaloosa, died Saturday, November 6, 2010, at her home in Oskaloosa. She was born on July 23, 1934, at Oskaloosa, the daughter of Chester Harold Donald and Margaret Sisco Dingman. Early in her working life, she worked in the fall of the year at McCurdy Seed in Fremont. On July 3, she was united in marriage to Willis Garman at Hernando, Mississippi; he died August 7, 2009. She worked at the old Don-Ann’s supper club in Rose Hill, for several years as a cook. Lastly she and Bill owned and operated the Rainbow Motel in Monroe City, Missouri for 18 years. In 1997 they sold the Motel and moved back to Oskaloosa. She was a member of the Rose Hill Community Church. She enjoyed baking and cooking, making everything from scratch. She also enjoyed sewing, making clothing and hats, and decorating cakes. She enjoyed doing crafts.

Her family includes; four daughters and their husbands: Marilyn and Alan Coupland of Monroe City, Missouri, Margie and Paul Graham of Oskaloosa, Donna and Jim Lockard of Oskaloosa, and Ronda and Steve Wibright of Round Lake Park, Illinois; a son and his wife: Billy and Deb Garman of Rose Hill; 17 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren; and a sister and her husband: Dottie (& Gary) Long in Indiana.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four grandchildren, one great grandchild; a sister: Carolyn Dingman; and three brothers: Chester, Frank, and Harry Dingman.

Funeral services for Rita Garman will be held Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at 10 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Del Bittner officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Monday after 12 noon in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel on Monday evening from 5:30 –7:30 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the Rose Hill Community Church.
