Question of the Week: Do you think the Republicans and Democrats will work together in the new congress?
Last week we asked you how well you felt the city had done clearing the streets in the wake of the recent snow storm. 19 residents (53%) responded average, 10 residents (28%) responded poor, 6 residents (17%) responded excellent, and 1 resident (2%) responded unsure. The question of the week poll is unscientific and does not reflect the views of Osky News.
This week, we shift to a political question. Over the past couple of weeks, we have seen the lame duck congress working very hard to get some important pieces of legislation go through. We have seen the extension of the Bush tax cuts as well as the unemployment benefits. We have seen the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell as well as the passage of the START Treaty. Throughout all of this, we have seen the Republicans and Democrats work together more than they have in the entire 112th session of congress.
The recent bipartisanship has started to get most people thinking. Analysts have said that this could be the Democrats chance to win back the majority. Some analysts have so far as to say that this could be what gets President Obama re-elected. However, other analysts say that because of the deep opposition in the parties, there could be little chance of a lot of bipartisanship in Congress this next session.
Now its your turn to decide. Vote in our online poll. The polls will be open until 9:00 pm next Sunday when we will close the poll and release the final voting numbers. If you have any questions or comments, please e-mail them to us at info@oskynews.org.
