Paws For A Cause Helps Raise Funds For Stephen Memorial

KBOE’s Bob Allen and his wife (left) try out some of the different chili varieties at Paws for a Cause.
Oskaloosa, Iowa – The paws were the cause for a fundraiser on Sunday afternoon at On The Green in Oskaloosa.
KBOE Radio organized the fundraiser, with help from the Mahaska Young Professionals. The event featured a chili cook-off and a silent auction.
Lindsey Sime, Executive Director at Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter spoke about how the funds raised from the day’s event will go to help care for the animals at Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter.
Fundraisers like those held on Sunday are important for facilities like Stephen Memorial, which work on limited and fixed budgets. When extra animals or needs arise, it’s difficult to find the funds that enable them to fill those needs.
One of those needs right now is dog food, in particular Purina Dog Chow. “This event will help too,” said Sime.
Local KBOE Radio personality Bob Allen and The Faders were on hand to provide live music to the event.
Allen talked about the event and why it was important for him and KBOE to be a part. “It benefits a great cause in Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter. It’s a great shelter, and it’s a great place to adopt a pet. They treat their animals well and they provide a valuable service to the community.”
Allen knows about the great pets available from Stephen Memorial. Allen and his wife adopted their dog from the shelter.
