Osky Varsity Girls’ Soccer Makes History!!!
Last night the Indians made history with a dominating 8th victory of the season over South Tama 8-0 which secured them their first winning season in program history and bringing their record to 8-4 with 3 games left. The Indians were dominate from the beginning and had one of their best offensive nights of the season.
The team had 32 shots with 20 of them being on goal. Senior, Taylor Seaton, would get the Indians on the board with a finish off a cross from Freshman, Aleeya Cheney. The Indians would strike again on another cross this time with Senior, Andie Reif, finishing a pass from Junior, Leah VanMaanen.
VanMaanen was just getting warmed up as she would score the 4th goal as time expired in the 1st half along with two more goals in the 2nd half (one was unassisted and the other was assisted by Junior, Ashley Brockman).
Cheney would score her first goal to bring the score 3-0 in the 1st half and would score the last goal for the Indians in the 2nd half for the final score of 8-0.
Seaton would add a second half goal to go with her first half goal with an assist from VanMaanen. The defensive had some pressure, but was able to thwart any attack the Trojans brought forth. Senior, Sandra Blom, recorded one save in the victory. The defense has now recorded 7 shutouts on the season and is looking to break the record for most shut outs in a season as well as fewest goals allowed.
“We were very proud of how the team came out tonight and worked. This was probably one of our best offensive games in the sense that we moved the ball really well which allowed for us to have a lot of scoring opportunities. ”
“The girls are very excited to have made history and checked off our first goal we made as a team with the winning season. We know we still have a lot of things that need to be done in order to accomplish our next goal of making a run at state, but we are headed in the right direction.”
The girls are back in action tonight against Norwalk with Varsity playing at 5:30.
