Oskaloosa XC Finishes In Top Half At Home Meet

The Oskaloosa XC team was in action tonight at their home invitational at Edmundson Park.

“I challenged the team coming into this meet to be more aggressive in their tactics, to run fearlessly, and to get outside of their comfort zones. Our theme was to ATTACK. I was really proud of the effort they showed. The team went out hard in the first mile, focused on moving up throughout the second mile, and were gutsy and tough with their finishes. This type of effort propelled us to really fast times and good team finishes. I’m super excited for what they did tonight.”

The varsity boys finished 5th out of 11 teams. “Another great pack race for us. Will Roach broke 18:00 for the 1st time in his career to lead the way and we had a strong 2-5 pack that finished within 10 seconds of each other. Reid Luck really fought hard in the last 800 to complete our team scoring. Reed Peterson really stepped up strong for us in this race.”

The varsity girls finished 7th out of 12 teams. “This was one of our better team finishes of the season. The girls did a much better job of racing tough over the last half of the race. Tierney Carter broke 22:00 for the first time (21:34) and Josie Adam had a nice bounce back race. The rest of the varsity had their best races of the season. Good step forward for us”

The JV boys dominated their race finishing 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th, winning the team championship. “The JV Boys took control of the race early and easily outpaced the field. Javion Reeves took control early and won the race. I’m really proud of him.”

The JV girls were unable to have a team score. “Really strong effort for our 3 JV girls. We had some good personal bests in the race.”

“Thank you to all the volunteers who helped make this race possible!”

The Indians are in action next on Tuesday, September 20th at Mt. Pleasant.
