Oskaloosa Varsity Girls Fight For Win Over Newton

MaKena Veldhuizen goes in for 2 more against Newton on Friday night

Oskaloosa, Iowa – Winter weather didn’t play a factor in the two teams facing each other, and the Indians proved that they had the heart.

MaKena Veldhuizen lead both teams in scoring, racking up 22 points on the evening, with her teammate Kenzie Gott sinking 6 more. Taylor Crawford along with Sarandyn Curtis each adding 4. Allie Christenson and Kelsey Kollasch each added to the Indian total.

The Indians had 26 defensive rebounds with Gott pulling down 11 of those and Veldhuizen 5 more. Gott lead the Indians in blocked shots with 4 and also had 4 steals, with Veldhuizen adding 4 steals of her own.

For Newton, they had two players in double digits with Kristin Samson putting up 12 points and Kaylie Rhoads 11 of her own.
