Oskaloosa Police Association Adopts a Mile of Trail

The Oskaloosa Police Association have adopted a mile on the Lacey Recreation Trail and volunteered to trim trees and keep this mile clean. “The Oskaloosa Police Association is a service oriented group and all the activities we provide in the community are for the betterment of our community”, stated Jake McGee, Oskaloosa Police Chief. “We just want to do our part in helping keep the recreation trail safe and more attractive for users” he continued.

The mile of adopted trail location is from Bobzilla’s Bike shop to South M Street. The group, including Jake McGee, Troy Boston, Ben Johnston, Craig Alexander, Brent DeRonde, and Gary and son Will Kutcher, began Monday night cleaning, trimming and clearing this area of trail. The job took two hours for the initial trimming and cleaning and the Association will maintain it at least once a month throughout the season.

Trail miles have been adopted also by the boy scouts, the Richardson family and Dr Steven Shoup. “There are also those individuals and groups who volunteer for one-time projects along the trail and we appreciate all of our volunteers!” stated Sherry Vavra, Executive Director of MCRF.
