Move To Annex Underway For Juvenile Court Services and Veterans Affairs

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Mahaska County Board of Supervisors met in regular session on Tuesday, September 5th due to the Labor Day holiday.

The first bit of business the supervisors handled was to make the Mahaska County Conservation Director, Dave Sedivec, the representative for property management for the USDA for grounds managed by the conservation board.

The board designated Sedivec for that role.

The board also approved a contract with D B Landscaping to install lighting for the holiday downtown display, known as painted with light.

D B Landscaping is presenting a new contract for year by year basis versus the regular 5-year contract because the board didn’t want to tie the hands of a future board.

The board also discussed the move of Juvenile Court Services and Veteran’s Affairs to the courthouse annex located at 301 1st Avenue East in Oskaloosa.

The move is part of a process to secure the Mahaska County Courthouse and bring it within compliance set out by the state. The front of the courthouse will soon be the only point to enter the building during regular hours.

The board approved a request from secondary roads to purchase a 2017 Broce broom to help maintain the county road system.

Also approved for the secondary roads was the request by Mahaska County Engineer Dave Shanahan to attend the MINK Conference. The time spent there would be a portion of his needed hours for additional training.

Also approved was an update to the 28E agreement with South Iowa Area Crime Commission Service Agency, and a HIPAA project with Carosh Compliance Solutions.
