MHP Gets Approval For Continuing Levy
Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Sanitarian report was the first major item of business on the Supervisors agenda for the day, with Sanitarian Eric Dursky presenting an update on the residents decision that live along Carbonado Road.
They have informed Dursky as to their decisions on continuing to use septic systems or having the city put in sanitary sewer. “Of the residents who replied a majority of them feel they want to continue on their individual septic systems”, was what was conveyed to Dursky. He advised that in the near future he will be sending letters out to the residents along Carbonado in regards to their septic systems.
Miranda Johnson, Director at MCARD informed the supervisors in regards to happenings involving that department. One of the first items she brought to the table was Legislative Day, that will be held Friday March 23 at the Cargill Complex in Eddyville. Last year included representatives from Wacker Chemical, Indian Hills, Alliant Energy, Cargill, Ajinomoto Food Ingredients, Ajinomoto Heartland, Mahaska County, Monroe County, Eddyville, Mahaska Community Development Group, Ottumwa Economic Development, Albia Industrial Development Corporation, City of Ottumwa, Iowa Senator Sandy Griener (R), Iowa Senator Tom Rielly (D), Iowa Representative Guy Vander Linden (R), Iowa Representative Curt Hansen (D), Congressman Boswell’s Office and Congressman Dave Lobsack’s Office.
The supervisors approved opening the courthouse for use of the public restrooms for Art on the Square, Sweet Corn Serenade, and the Lighted Christmas Parade.
In the last action of the day before being adjourned, the Supervisors approved a request from Mahaska Health Partnership to continue the .10 per $1000 to continue funding the ambulance service. Mahaska Health Partnership CEO Jay Christensen said the hospital is expecting to receive its newest ambulance in the near future. Christensen estimated nearly 1,600 ambulance runs per year from the hospital.
