Margie R. Moore

Oskaloosa. Margie R. Moore, 89, of Oskaloosa, died Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at Northern Mahaska Nursing and Rehab in Oskaloosa. She was born on Tuesday, September 6, 1921, in Keokuk County, Iowa, the daughter of H. E. Kelley and Blanche Ackley Burdine. She graduated from the Oskaloosa Senior High with the class of 1939. Following graduation she attended A.I.B. for 2 years. After moving back to Oskaloosa she worked as a secretary for a time. On February 1, 1942, she was united in marriage to Bruce J. Moore at Lancaster, Missouri; he died December 25, 1985. Following their marriage they moved to various places while Bruce was in the military, after his discharge they returned to Oskaloosa to be near family. Margie enjoyed reading and going out to eat with her close friends. She had a great love for dogs and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Her family includes a sister-in-law: Hilda Wagner of Sigourney and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and a sister in infancy.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 20, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. in Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Reverend Robert Dean officiating. Burial will be in the Sorden Cemetery in Keokuk County. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Open visitation will be held on Friday from 12 noon to 5 p.m. The family will be at the Bates Funeral Chapel on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the Central United Methodist Church or to Mahaska Hospice.
