Lohman Receives District Academic Award
Oskaloosa–Cassie Lohman (So., Burbank, Calif., Providence HS) has not only had a tremendous sophomore season on the softball diamond, but her dominance in the classroom has also been recognized as she was honored for her all-around achievements yesterday.
The designated hitter was named a second-team all-District 7 College Division honoree as part of the Capitol One Academic All-American Softball Team selected by CoSIDA.
The accolade recognizes student-athletes not only for their athletic prowess but also their successes academically. Lohman owns a 3.78 Grade Point Average in criminology and is hitting .359 (42-of-117) with 11 doubles, 19 RBIs, and 17 runs scored.
Lohman is one of just five sophomores out of the 45 individuals honored within District 7’s College division.
The College division includes institutions within the NAIA ranks as well as NCAA Division II and III schools, Canadian universities, and two-year schools.
To be eligible for the award, athletes must be of at least sophomore academic standing, be a starter or key reserve player (other playing requirements where applicable), maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or above on a 4.0 scale, and have attended the nominating institution for at least one full calendar year.
