Oskaloosa–Chris Leiba (Jr., Olympia, Wash., Business Management) both hit a qualifying mark and broke a school record last week and his efforts helped him to be named Heart of America Athletic Conference Men’s Track Athlete of the Week Monday.

Leiba was tabbed for the second time this year (second in his career) after a huge day at the Missouri Collegiate Challenge last Saturday.

The junior, who has qualified for the second time in his career, crossed the line in the 60-meter dash in a school-record time of 6.85 seconds (second overall). He was also the 200-meter dash champion in 22.45 seconds and helped the 4×400-meter relay team to third place in 3:28.99.

Leiba will enter the NAIA National Championships (Feb. 28-March 2 in Brookings, S.D.) with the 13th-fastest time in the country.

The award is the second for the program this year.
