Lady Statesmen claim win over Central Methodist
Oskaloosa—Lady Statesmen slide by with a win over Central Methodist 73-69. William Penn started out strong claiming a 40-27 lead by halftime, and shooting 50.0% (17-34) from the field.
Sam Abens (So., Knoxville, Southwest Minnesota State) led the team with 17 points and 6 rebounds, while Orielle Thomas (Fr., Waynesville, Mo., Waynesville HS) managed a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
In the second half, the Lady Statesmen struggled offensively as Central Methodist out shot William Penn from the three point line, but the Lady Statesmen managed to out rebound Central Methodist 39 to 32.
Rounding out the scoring was Sarah Martin (Sr., Anthem, Ariz., Boulder Creek HS) with 13 points, Katie Golomski (Fr., Milwaukee, Wis., Pius Xi HS) with seven points, and three Lady Statesmen with 6 points each: Jessi Kreuser (Fr., Mendota Heights, Minn., Henry Sibley HS), Morgan Evans (Jr., Creston, Southwestern CC) and Megan Evangelista (So., Chanhassen, Minn., Chaska HS).
