Karen Hart, age 76, of Oskaloosa, died Saturday, August 8, 2020, at MHP Serenity Hospice House in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She was born October 31, 1943, at Mahaska Hospital, the daughter of Harold and Gwenn (Raber) Fuller.

Karen attended Oskaloosa High School and graduated with the Class of 1961. She later attended Simpson College and earned her B.A. Degree in education.

On July 25, 1965, she was united in marriage to Larry Hart at the First Christian Church in Oskaloosa. They had two children, Brent and Jason.

Karen taught first grade in Oskaloosa for more than 30 years until retiring in 2004.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Oskaloosa and was a volunteer at several local organizations over the years, including the Ecumenical Cupboard of Oskaloosa. She loved teaching and touched the lives of countless children throughout her career. In retirement, she enjoyed trips to the beach, volunteering, and visiting with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Larry Hart of Oskaloosa; her two children, Brent Hart and Jason (& Jackie) Hart; and her grandson, Jackson Hart, all of Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Gwenn Fuller.

As was Karen’s wish, her body has been cremated and services will be planned at a later date.
Memorials may be made to The Ecumenical Cupboard of Oskaloosa, The American Cancer Society, or the First Christian Church in Oskaloosa.
