Julie Lewis, 52, of University Park, Iowa, died Sunday, December 15, 2013, at her home in University Park.

Julie was born September 1, 1961, in New Martinsburg, West Virginia, the daughter of James and Janet Ransford Tewell.

Julie attended Oskaloosa High school. Following school she went to work at Pleasant Park Nursing Home in Oskaloosa. Later she worked for Pella Corporation, the Mahaska Hospital and White Oak Estates. In 1990, she was united in marriage to Michael Lewis, they later divorced.

Julie enjoyed reading, spending time with her grandchildren, playing games with her family, coloring and doing crossword puzzles.

Her family includes her three children, Tiffany Tewell (& Chris Norton) of Oskaloosa, Jack Lewis of Oskaloosa and Matthew Lewis of Oskaloosa; three grandchildren, Nathan Norton, Kilie Norton and Kira Lewis; three sisters, Debra Bonea of Oskaloosa, Stacy (& Everett) Montgomery of Oskaloosa and Stephanie (& Troy) Kraber of Oskaloosa; two brothers, James Tewell of Oskaloosa and Joe (& Angel) Tewell of Des Moines; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at 6 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Paul Williams officiating.
As was Julie’s wish her body has been cremated. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation with the family present will be Wednesday evening from 4 until service time at 6 p.m.
