Jim Lahue

Oskaloosa. Jim Lahue, 66, of Oskaloosa, died on Monday, March 28, 2011, at the Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. He was born Tuesday, September 26, 1944, at Cherokee, Iowa, the son of Robert and Ann Bonar Lahue. He graduated from high school in Cedar Rapids in 1962. Following high school, he worked at D.C. Taylors in Cedar Rapids, and then operated a gas station in Minnesota. He moved back to Iowa in 1980 and Oskaloosa, and worked at the YMCA; then odd jobs in Oskaloosa, and finally, Clow Valve in the foundry for 7 years until ill health forced his retirement. He enjoyed collecting pocket knives and walking canes and loved the outdoors, including fishing and hunting. He enjoyed visiting with people, friends and strangers alike. He was a former member of the Oskaloosa Eagles. In 1977, he met Catherine Boll, and enjoyed many years of devoted companionship.

His family includes his companion, Cathy Boll; two sons: Jerry and Duane McNeal, both of Vinton; three daughters: Marcie McNeal, Tina Lahue, and Gina Lahue, all of Vinton; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; stepsons: Richard (& Teresa) Boll of Honey Creek, Iowa, Floyd (& Leta) Boll of Cedar Rapids, Ralph (& Ronda) Boll of Searsboro and Joe Slight of Cedar Rapids; stepdaughters: Dorene Boll, Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Bonita (& Lowell) Fuller of Vancouver, Washington; two brothers: Francis Lahue in Texas and Robert (& Sue) Lahue of Cedar Rapids; and a sister: Patricia Lahue in Texas.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; a sister: Cecelia Lahue; and a brother: John Lahue.

Funeral services for Jim Lahue will be held Thursday, March 31, 2011, at 1 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Pastor Alvern Boetsma officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery at Oskaloosa. Visitation will be Thursday, and the family will be at the funeral chapel Thursday from 11 a.m. until service time to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the family.
