GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College’s Michael Brus ’14 and Imelda Wistey ’14 earned All-America honors Saturday at the 2011 NCAA Division III National Swimming and Diving Championships in Knoxville, Tenn.

Brus was fourth in the men’s 200-yard backstroke with yet another record-breaking performance. After shattering his own school and Midwest Conference records in the preliminaries with a clocking of 1:47.96, Brus swam the final in 1:47.81 Saturday night at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center to eclipse those records again. The winner of the event was Quinn Bartlett of Denison, who finished in 1:46.85.

Brus is Grinnell’s first male swimmer since 1991 to earn All-America honors.

Wistey was 16th in the women’s 200 breaststroke Saturday night in a time of 2:22.68. That marked the second time in the meet she earned All-America status after finishing third in the 100 breaststroke Friday night.
