Four to Represent WPU at Indoor Nationals
Oskaloosa–A quartet of Statesmen men’s track and field athletes will vie for national gold as they compete at the 57th NAIA Indoor National Championship.
The event, which is hosted by Dakota State University, will be held at Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex in Brookings, S.D.
Loubert Dagrin (So., Miami, Fla., Sociology), who was an All-American in the 110-meter hurdles during last year’s outdoor meet, is looking to add to his tally as he competes in the 60-meter hurdles. He is currently ranked third in the NAIA in 8.02 seconds. The sophomore will take on the field in Friday’s preliminary round at 12:50 p.m.
Showalter Johnson (Fr., Nassau, Bahamas) enters his first nationals meet in 12th place in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.83 seconds. The 60-meter preliminary races will begin at 2:35 p.m. on Friday
Torian Kingston (Sr., Queens, N.Y., Sports Management) has doubled his chances of glory as he ranks 13th in the 400-meter dash (48.68) and 21st in the 200-meter dash (21.77). He runs the 400 prelims on Friday at 1:25 p.m. and will meet up with the rest of the 200 field later in the afternoon at 5 p.m.
Justin Moeller (Jr., Keota, Iowa, Psychology) will carry the flag for the Statesmen field athletes, dueling in the long jump at 4 p.m. on Friday. He currently ranks 19th with a mark of 23-2.
