Estrada Opens Collegiate Career with Heart Laurel
Oskaloosa–Zao Estrada (Fr., Bluffton, S.C., Sociology) started her William Penn career with a masterful week, and her efforts were rewarded as she was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Women’s Wrestler of the Week Monday, presented by Musco.
The freshman garnered her first award by going a perfect 6-0 last week.
She opened with her most impressive victory, defeating #4 nationally-ranked Katherine Heath of Baker 10-6 in a dual last Thursday. Estrada then dominated en route a perfect 5-0 record at Saturday’s Waldorf Open to claim the 117-pound weight class crown.
For the year, Estrada is 6-0 with four technical falls and one fall.
The award is the first for WPU in 2024-2025.
