Elaine L. Jones, 71, of Waterloo, Iowa, and formerly of Eddyville, passed away Monday, January 11, 2016, at the Ravenwood Specialty Care Center in Waterloo.
Elaine Jones, daughter of George and Esther Taylor, was born October 2, 1944, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Elaine was a 1962 graduate of Ottumwa High School and then attended Iowa Tech. in Ottumwa. She worked as a clerk for the Farmers Home Administration until 1968.
Elaine was united in marriage to Joe Lawrence Jones, September 23, 1967, at the home of her parent’s in Ottumwa. Elaine was a busy mother raising four children. She and her husband, Joe, owned and operated J & E’s Rib’s-on-Wheels for over 30 years. Together they traveled the area cooking and serving delicious meals out of their converted school bus.
Elaine was a long time member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Oskaloosa and later in Waterloo.
Her family includes her husband; three daughters: Aleece Jones of Des Moines, Lonii Jones of Champaign, IL and JoAnna Parker of Tacoma, WA; a son, Joe Jr. of Waterloo; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gwendolyn Sanders of Ottumwa.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 16, 2016, at the Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont High School in Eddyville.
As was her wish, her body has been cremated.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name and given to the family.
