EBHS Jazz Band places 2nd at Indianola

On Saturday February 19th, the Eddyville Blakesburg High School Jazz Band placed 2nd in class 2A competition at the Indianola Jazz Encounter Contest. This is the 2nd year that the band has attending this festival. EBHS outscored 7 other bands in class 2A. Several students received Outstanding Soloist Awards for their solo performances: Tanner Powers; vibes, Anna Haselhuhn; trumpet, and Brooke Lunsford; alto saxophone.

Brooke Lunsford was also named as the Outstanding Soloist of the day out of all of the bands that performed in the auditorium. This included all of the 1A, 2A, and 3A bands. The next event for EBHS Jazz I will be this Saturday at the Indian Hills Jazz Festival. The band performs at 9:40 in class 2A competition. On March 7th, the band will compete at the SEIBA District Jazz Contest in Iowa City. The annual Jazz Band Concert will be on March 17th at 7:00. Friends and supporters of the band are encouraged to attend.
