NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA — In the final poll before conference championship weekend throughout much of the country, the Central College men’s indoor track and field team fell to No. 20 in the USTFCCCA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Team Rating Index.

Points in the National Team Rating Index are based off placement in the National Descending Order Lists. The higher an athlete sits on the list, the more points he or she adds to his or her team’s total. These points do not reflect placement or scoring at the NCAA Championships, but is to show the individuals and teams that have the best chances at scoring well at said meet.

Having set a new NCAA Division III record three weeks ago at the Wartburg Indoor Select, Will Daniels’s (junior, Geneseo, Ill.) heptathlon score of 5,441 s is No. 1 on the national qualifying list.

Daniels high jump (6 feet, 9.5 inches) is No. 4 in the nation, his 60-meter dash time is 34th (6.97 seconds) and his 60-meter hurdle time (8.37 seconds) is No. 32.

Clocking in at 1:54.63 in the 800-meter run, Kyle Pape (senior, Dubuque, Wahlert Catholic HS) is No. 17 nationally.

North Central College (Ill.) retains the No. 1 spot, keeping the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh to No. 2. The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, University of Mount Union (Ohio), and University of Wisconsin-Platteville round out the top five.

Central is one of four teams from the American Rivers Conference to crack the top-25. They are also ranked No. 6 in the Central Region.

The Dutch are back in Waverly again this weekend, this time for the American Rivers Conference Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday.
